The class reaches beyond the AIA documents and also addresses developer contracts and standard form general contractor and subcontractor contracts. The class also discusses Article 2 of the Uniform Commercial Code relative to the formation and management of contracts for the sale of goods. New York Governor Andrew Cuomo signed a bill (S.854-A/A.1248-A) passed by the Senate and Assembly to legalize adult use of cannabis. The impacts of such will no doubt adversely impact construction industry employers, employees and project owners. How will such permissible use of cannabis by adults effect employers, construction job sites, safety, general liability insurance premiums, etc. and what legal ramifications are employers subject to under this legislation?

Join construction contractors from across New York state for a free webinar on April 20, 2021 at 11:00 AM. Hosted by the Building Industry Employers of New York State (BIE NYS), this free webinar will address the legal implications for contractors and employees alike, while also exploring the impact of legalized marijuana on the construction industry from a risk management perspective. Construction attorney Edward Sheats of Sheats & Bailey, PLLC will present information on the legal issues while the risk management experts at OneGroup will tackle the general liability and risk management matters. April 26, 27, May 3 and 4, 2021 - 8:00am-4:30pm all four dates. *Registrants must attend all 4 sessions in order to receive their certification card. Limit of 2 people per company.

The OSHA 30-hour construction outreach course is required by Corning Glass, Anhueser-Busch, Cornell University, Turner Construction, Slattery Skanska and others for the lead foremen and superintendents. Subjects covered will include OSHA, Fall Protection, Electrical Safety, Scaffolding, Respiratory Protection, and much more. OSHA has made several changes to the 10 and 30 hour courses employers and employees should be aware of.

*PLEASE BE ADVISED – OSHA HAS IMPLEMENTED A $10.00 PROCESSING FEE FOR EACH STUDENT’S CERTIFICATION CARD. THIS NON-REFUNDABLE FEE MUST BE RECEIVED OR THE CERTIFICATION CARD WILL NOT BE RELEASED TO THE STUDENT AT THE CLASS. STUDENTS MUST POSESS OR PURCHASE A COPY OF THE CONSTRUCTION STANDARDS AT A COST OF $50.00 (non-refundable) FROM THE INSTRUCTOR. PAYMENT IS DUE TWO-WEEKS PRIOR TO THE START DATE OF THE COURSE. Temperature checks will be performed upon student’s arrival. Anyone exhibiting a temperature over 100 will not be admitted.
